Menendez's Bribery Trial Puts Scrutiny on His Motives and His Marriage

This will be Menendez’s second corruption trial; the first ended in a hung jury. However, this trial introduces a new element, as charges have been brought against Menendez’s wife as well. Prosecutors argue that the couple collaborated in accepting bribes in exchange for the senator’s influence in various matters, including directing aid to Egypt and intervening in criminal investigations. The case will be heard in Federal District Court in Manhattan.
